What's In Your Diaper Bag with Hello Mellow Shop

1.  Who are you? Name, family, job, hobbies
Hi! I’m Allison Magpayo, co-owner of Hello Mellow, a wellness+ weirdness shop and shiatsu clinic in Toronto. I’m also a small business consultant who specializes in curating pop-ups and retail experiences for other small businesses. Have some extra space in your coffee shop/yoga studio/retail space/online platform/you-name-it? I'm the one that helps you fill it with inclusive, sustainable, and truly singular products.  I’m also a mom to a funny, mischievous, stubborn and kind 14 month-old named Wallace Little, though we mostly call him Wally.
2. Five essential things that are in your diaper bag (bonus  if you can get everything locally) also what diaper bag do you have?

My diaper bag is a classic black Fjallraven backpack that I purchased at
North Standard Trading Post in Parkdale. It’s small, but mighty—It fits a ton!

Honestly, about 75% of my bag is snacks at any given time, both for me and for Wallace.

Fruits, veggies, and Oaty Chomps Bars by Love Child (we get them at Evergreen Natural Foods on Roncesvalles) are some of Wally’s favourites. He also love the Black River Organics Mozzarella cheese sticks from Rowe Farms on Roncesvalles. We carry our snacks in stainless steel reusable containers that I purchased from Ecotique -also on Roncesvalles— are you seeing a trend here?- and they’re my absolute favourite.

If I'm having an extra tough day I like to pack myself a *special* treat like Mom Jeans Provisions CBD cookies to help keep stress in check. Their ginger-turmeric cookie is one of my fave cookie recipes of all time! You can order directly from instagram @momjeansprovisions

I’m always carrying Wally’s Lollaland penguin sippy cup from Jill in The Beanstalk and either a Keep Cup reusable coffee cup (from Scout on Roncesvalles!) or a Swell water bottle that my partner gifted to me.

The change in season has made my skin extra dry, so I usually carry an all purpose balm and a face lotion. Right now it's the  "Clear No.1 Olio e Osso balm stick from Tambourine on Roncesvalles and a Noto Botanics Moisture Riser face cream from our shop, Hello Mellow.

3. What neighbourhood do you live and why do you love it?
In case you hadn’t already guessed, I live in the Roncevalles area. I love it because everything is super convenient and walkable, including great outdoor areas like Sunnyside Beach and High Park. Since Wally entered our lives, our family spends a ton of time at the Sorauren Park playground. I love that there are always so many toys for Wallace to play with;  it was easy to keep him entertained even when he wasn’t old enough to climb the playground equipment.  The Sorauren Park Farmer’s Market on Mondays from 3-7pm is another favourite way to spend an afternoon.

4.    Why do you shop at Tokki?
I  shop at tokki because, as any parent knows, kids stuff is expensive and often wasteful due to its short wear time. Tokki provides a stylish and sustainable solution for dressing little bodies and bonus it’s women-owned!
5.  What was the last thing you bought at the store and why?
The last thing I bought was socks, but the thing we bought  from Tokki this year that has been the most helpful was a down-filled reversible Patagonia jacket for Wallace. He wears it every day and it keeps him warm and snuggly. Now if they only had one in my size!
